Benito López
Director

An industrial engineer and economist from the Universidad Politécnica de Cataluña, where he has also taught for over ten years, complemented with doctoral studies in engineering and economics.

Benito has held over the years a number of senior management roles in major institutions, including 10 years as Managing Director of the INEM (the National Employment Agency in Barcelona), and as CEO of the Instituto Aragonés de Fomento (IAF), the entrepreneurial and investment arm of the regional Government of Aragón with the aim of fostering economic growth via the support and execution of business projects in the community. The IAF is one of the driving forces behind important structural changes within the Aragon region, and a main business promoter of new initiatives in multiple industries, old and new.

In the year 2000 Benito joined INFUN Group as Executive Vice-President, a leading engineering group with a focus on the automobile parts sub-industry and production facilities in Spain, Italy and China.

As a result of structural investment and setup of the Spanish high speed train in Zaragoza, in between Madrid and Barcelona, a new entity was created to handle the urban development in the region named Zaragoza Alta Velocidad 2002, S.A., partly owned by the local government as well as the main high speed train operators (ADIF and Renfe). In 2003 Benito was asked to join the new entity as Chief Financial Officer, a role which he holds to date.

Benito’s insight into the Public Administration and knowledge of the working mechanics of the public sector is paramount to the success of the public/private franchise of the Going portfolio.
